One of the topics of the story of the creation of Adam, which is mentioned in verse 31 of Surah Al-Baqarah, is the issue of the teaching of names, the knowledge of which God Almighty gifted to Adam Abul Bishar, and which made Adam superior and honorable over the angels, and finally, he was worshiped by the angels.
The meaning and nature of these names has been a question for commentators for a long time. In this research, an attempt has been made to find a reasonable explanation of the nature of names through the comparative study of the Bible and Quranic interpretations. Based on this, the Old Testament considered the nature of names to be the names of creatures and earthly beings under the rule of Adam. This explanation of the nature of names has been confirmed in several interpretations of the Holy Qur'an, while facing many challenges such as its non-unsightliness, non-existence The criterion of superiority is in the case of knowing them and the ability to teach them by angels, which does not match the context of the verse in question. Therefore, the nature of names must be something more than the names of earthly beings. The review and inadequacy of the aforementioned view, along with other interpretive statements, have led the writers to the conclusion that the meaning of names in the verse under discussion - 31 Surah Baqarah - is the unseen facts of existence. Adam (pbuh) has understood them with divine teaching and knowledge and God has blessed others with their existence.
